The name refers to co-owner Eliane, whose nickname in Egypt is “Lala.”
Unlike most stables located on the west bank of the Nile, Lala Land is based on the east side of Luxor, allowing us to offer a completely different range of tours. We also combine cultural experiences with our rides, making each tour unique and personal.
We understand that this is a valid concern. At Lala Land, the well-being of our horses is our top priority. Although our stable is located in the city, the horses are taken out into nature every day — whether it's along the Nile, through the fields, or into the desert. They enjoy regular exercise and personal care. We ensure they live a balanced and healthy life, both physically and mentally.
In addition, we are planning to purchase a piece of land outside the city to give our horses even more space to roam and relax in a natural environment.
Of course! You’re welcome to visit and meet our horses anytime.
Yes, we can arrange pick-up from your accommodation — whether you're staying on the east or west bank of Luxor. If pick-up is not already included in the price of your tour, it can be provided for an additional fee.
We take several measures to keep our horses cool and comfortable during the hot summer months. Each horse receives refreshing cold showers daily and has its own fan in the stable for constant airflow. To avoid overheating, our horses are not ridden during the hottest hours of the day — instead, we plan all rides early in the morning or in the cooler evenings.

We respect this concern. Horse dancing is a traditional part of Egyptian folklore — and like any form of training, it can be done well or poorly. We do not tolerate any abuse. Our horses are trained with care and rest regularly. They perform only short sequences, and only if they are physically and mentally comfortable. We use English bits and monitor each horse closely, always putting their health and happiness first.

We understand that some visitors may have concerns about these places. Our intention in offering such tours is not to promote cruelty, but to give guests an authentic insight into local traditions and everyday life in Egypt – including aspects that can be difficult to witness. We believe that seeing these realities firsthand can inspire meaningful conversations about animal welfare and cultural change.
It is important to note that anything happening outside our stable – including at the animal market, Mermah games, or other local events – is beyond our direct control. These practices are part of long-standing traditions and may not always align with international animal welfare standards. For guests who are sensitive to such matters, we make sure to inform you in advance about what to expect.
At Lala Land, we are deeply committed to the well-being of our own animals and strive to raise awareness about animal welfare within the local community. Through respectful dialogue and education, we hope to encourage a gradual shift toward more humane treatment of all animals over time.
Egypt is a conservative country, and especially in male-dominated places like the Mermah races or the animal market, it is advisable to wear long pants and a t-shirt that covers the shoulders. This ensures both comfort and respect for local customs.
The games are held on specific days depending on local schedules and events. Please contact us and let us know the dates you’ll be in Luxor, and we’ll check if a race is scheduled during that time.
You pay in cash at the end of the tour. We accept US dollars, euros, or Egyptian pounds. Prices are based on US dollars, and the amounts in euros or Egyptian pounds will be converted according to the daily exchange rate.
